Thanks for those laughs

I long for when the Simpsons were that funny

Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.

either Mike D'antoni is a real life bobble head

or he was trying to discreetly dance to the Bobcats pregame music

anyone else see that?

C'mon Gerald

1 for 4 from the line to start!

Something is about to happen

I’d be shocked if it doesn’t happen before Sunday’s rematch.

Listen to Martin – he’s always been a shill and the broadcast team has been used to prep the public for a change more than once. So far tonight the propaganda for Felton has been off the hook. At a time when they would normally have cut to Wallace or Brown for a pregame quote comment they go to Stephanie with Felton. Felton comments about the players being responsible for closing games and not the coach and what was the spin from the announcers? “That’s just like Raymond, taking all the responsibility on his own shoulders.” That isn’t even in the area code of what he said. I’ve counted 7 times in the first 15 minutes of the game alone where Martin has raved about something Felton has done that is part of Raymond’s regular repertoire. I’m not saying Raymond isn’t playing well, I’m saying it’s been suggested to them that they talk Felton up tonight.

So what’s it mean? I’m guessing Augustin will be off the roster before Sunday and the team will announce that Felton has a shiny new contract.

I may be wrong as hell, and I’m definitely reading between the lines, but either Martin stopped off at the ABC store on his way to the arena tonight or something’s coming.

Conspiracy Theory

There might very well be something going on trade wise, and Martin might sense it too. However, i won’t so far as to say that smilin’ Steve Martin is a shill, privy to some insider info abut the Cats roster. I have been watching all night and heard the pregame bit from Stephanie Ready, but outside of that i wouldn’t say that the commentators have been talking about Raymond extraordinarily or talking him up at all. I actually noticed at least once or twice where Martin called out Felton for a bad pass.

Are you sure you didn’t stop by the ABC store? haha

Eddy Curry for Augustin?

that would be stupid. Part of the reason DJ is playing badly is because LB is destroying his confidence by calling him out all the time and taking away most of his PT and giving it to that mofo Stephen Graham the scrub

--Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
--Someone should slap Larry Brown and bring him back to reality..

I figured my comment would draw some laughs

But I’m dead serious. Now suddenly we see a set piece complete with graphics and numbers showing what everyone already knows – that 3 men are carrying the scoring duties for the Cats. How do I know it was a planned set piece and not something quickly thrown together? Because although that image would have worked most nights, at the time they threw it onscreen Felton only had 6 points and 2 rebounds. Not only is that far below his norm of late, but Chandler had a stronger line for the night. If you don’t think sports teams utilize the local broadcasters and newsmen to channel news, float trial balloons, and prep the public for upcoming changes you haven’t ever worked in the media or taken a marketing course.

The purpose of that graphic was clear by the commentary that accompanied it. Curry and Martin immediately started talking about how badly we need a Power Forward. Since then they repeatedly talk about how desperately Brown is trying to find someone who can score behind Diaw and how disappointing Diaw’s performance has been of late.

I’m adding it up and I smell Diaw and Augustin going to NY for what is looking like Al Harrington.
Y’all can call me an idiot this weekend if that trade – or something VERY close to it – doesn’t roll into the news by Sunday morning. I’m not afraid to be wrong and I’m just calling it based on my own prior experience.

I wish I HAD hit the ABC. It would make the current score and that assinine charge call against Wallace a lot easier to handle.

This trade scenario works in the real GM Trade checker

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5325913

NY gets: Augustin, Diaw, & Graham

CHA gets: Eddy Curry and Jonathan Bender

Why NY does it: D’antoni gets reunited with Diaw whose game fits his style of play. NY gets a back up PG in DJ (cause D’antoni might not ever play Robinson again). Graham is pretty much filler – but LB is doing his best to “showcase” (cough) his talents.

Why CHA does it: Charlotte would get two big bodies they’ve been needing. NY recently signed 7 footer Jonathan Bender and didn’t really need him, maybe to potentially move him. CHA takes on Curry’s massive contract, but gets rid of the longer contracts of DJ and Boris.

I don’t necessarily advocate this deal, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all and seems to make sense as far as the trade meeting both teams immediate needs.

TIE GAME! GO CATS!

...except Bender can't be traded for three months.

I.E. not this season.

You beat me to it on that one

I was in the process of typing that very comment.

The same 3 from CHA works

for this trade:

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5325941

NY gets: Diaw, Augustin & Graham
CHA gets: Al Harrington and Jordan Hill

and this trade:

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5325967

NY gets: Diaw, Augustin & Graham
CHA gets: Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill & Nate Robinson

by dudemanhey on Dec 15, 2009 9:37 PM EST up reply actions

My guess

would be the first one is most likely, although Robinson has been getting a lot of bounce in the trade talks.

New wallace fact:

every time Gerald hits the floor a bobcats fan suffocates after they stop breathing.

just a known fact

--Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
--Someone should slap Larry Brown and bring him back to reality..

by raysfan81 on Dec 15, 2009 8:36 PM EST reply actions

Then who is it?

If the theory is a trade is coming then the question is, who do we think we are getting ?

by griffter10 on Dec 15, 2009 8:37 PM EST reply actions

thats what I'm wondering

I think it would send a terrible message to the other young players if DJ is traded. “Play for a little over a season here and then get traded!!”

just throwing it out there

Just read that Mcgrady is going to be back in action for houston i believe this friday. Every one knows that the rockets want to trade him but he needs to play a little first. That could be the first step to a trade. I know we need a PF but we also need a superstar, or some one that can finish in the 4th. Im not saying that is whats going to happen, just thought it is funny that it is happening now.

by griffter10 on Dec 15, 2009 9:08 PM EST reply actions

Well, we know we can't trust our point guard to run the offense at the end of the game.

I dunno about that.

It seems to me that Raymond – bum ankle and all – scored 4 pretty damned clutch points off the screen. And on one of them, Jackson set the screen too early and had to come back and reset it. Even with the play telegraphed he beat the defense with the dribble. I’m starting to think number 20 may be for real.

phew that was scary

I came back from an errand and we were down by 12

It's going to be interesting on Sunday

Anyone want to speculate as to how much zone coverage we see at MSG?
Anyone want to speculate as to how much time Brown will spend at practice on Fri-Sat on ball movement to beat the zone?

Those of you that think people on this blog use too much vulgarity,

Try scrolling through the knicks gameday thread. There has to be a hundred f bombs.

by MR. MANN on Dec 15, 2009 9:57 PM EST reply actions

Vulgarity is not so bad in and of itself.

When it’s your only means of supporting your opinion and it’s directed at others, that’s when there’s a problem.

I won't defend NY fans

by pointing out that up there even little old grannies use the F-bomb. The word is so common it’s barely a profanity at all anymore. That’s still no excuse and it doesn’t make it any more mature or “cool.”

I personally don’t think a well placed curse word here and there is a problem.
But there is a slowly increasing trend here toward posts that are nothing more than a single personal and profane sentence amounting to “you’re a &^$#(
That sort of thing does nothing but invite the same in kind. It certainly doesn’t advance a discussion. We don’t have the biggest population amongst the SBNation blogs I’m sure, but most of the folks that post on here think before they hit the “post” button and that’s why I spend time here instead of elsewhere. We can disagree – as Procton and I did about using Gerald Henderson at point – and walk away learning something about the game and team or we can just call one another names like a bunch of 8-year-olds.

Just like some people don’t like my longish posts and ignore them, I ignore the name calling. But we do get a lot of outside visitors and Rufus is a cut above a lot of the other SB blogs as you just pointed out. Visitors and newbies won’t hang around long enough to learn that if the first thing they see is a bunch of personal attacks and name-calling.

I don’t run this blog and I’m in no way trying to dictate behavior. David busts his hump to keep this place going and doesn’t get enough thanks for it IMO. I’m also not directing this at you or any other individual. I’m just stating my opinion on the matter.

I will now obediently bow my head and prepare to be a punching bag for a while.

I agree with you and Procto

I am not defending it, I just thought it was funny. It doesnt offend me though, but I agree about the outside viewers and it just dumbs down the conversation.
