Open Gameday Thread Charlotte Bobcats vs. Boston Celtics
Boston Celtics at Charlotte Bobcats, Dec 1, 2009 7:00 PM EST
TV: SportSouth | Radio: 1660 AM
SB Nation Celtics Blog: Celtics Blog
I parked the car in Harvard Yard.
Crash will cover Bird, our defensive ace on their best offensive player. Diaw matches up fairly well on McHale, since he can come out on the elbow jumper. Just be worried about what'll happen if he gets Boris too deep on the block. And Tyson can bang with Parish. In the back court, I'd rather have Felton on Johnson, because I'm more confident in his ability to hound him for the full court. Where we have an advantage is S-Jax on Ainge. As long as we can play Gerald and Jackson together on the wings, I don't think they have an answer for both of them. What are they gonna do? Use a scrub like Thirdkill for twenty minutes? Or a washout like Wedman?

I want to see Primoz and melvin ely get some playing time today!
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
I think....
Gerald Henderson Jr. should cover Gerald Henderson Sr. Derrick Brown can play Len Bias’s ghost.

having trouble with shots
we’re missing a lot of buckets here in the latter half of the 1st quarter. Can’t allow ourselves to get too far behind.
I always enjoy when we play LA or Boston. We usually have some decent games.
stephen graham is taking too many minutes away from henderson
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
These are minutes Gerald Wallace could be playing. I swear, LB will take a guy out if he gets 2 fouls in the first quarter and not bring him back until there are 3 minutes to go in the half, but if a dude gets his second foul actually in the 2nd quarter, he’ll leave him in.
FACE. PALM.
Our best player is on the bench, unnecessarily. Bring him in until he gets his third foul.
i agree this is getting ugly. FAST
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
yeah, I agree
Wallace should be in playing right now.
I always hate to sound pessimistic, but I think we’re starting to dig ourselves into a hole…
So far he has yet to toucht the ball....
mainly a lot of Ray Ray driving into three guys.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Nazr needs more playing time
me thinks.
steve martin says we have the making of a comeback right now. I’m not so sure…
Seriously, Wallace has played 5:31 in the first half. Utterly insane. YOU DON’T KNOW IF HE’S GOING TO COMMIT ANOTHER FOUL. And if he does, take him out until the second half. It’s. Not. That. Hard.
The good news is that even with our best player on the bench for most of the first half, we’re only 12 points down. Basketball’s a game of runs. Make a brief run, hold position for another back and forth, then make another brief run, and we’re right there with ’em.
i agree it is insane
who knows he could be the spark to help us come back. but we’ll never know
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
And just like the wind blowing through the trees...
Geerald Henderson goes out.

God the Celtics know how to pass.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
we need to get this down to 10
We’ve got to get this down to a 10 point difference at the half to have a decent chance of winning
OK tyson chandler isn't doing anything Nazr needs to be in
gerald should be in as well
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
This is getting hard to watch...
Cat’s offense looks awful.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Can't understand why Wallace isn't in
Just two fouls? omg….he’s like our star player, so to speak, and needs to playing now…not in the next quarter when we’re down by 20-25 points.
I think we're already there.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Please someone stop Mohammed from getting in a fight with Garnett...
he’s our only capable Center.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
I can't stand Kevin Garnett
I miss the old, humble Garnett. The one who would be firey on the floor, but without going overboard.
You know, the same Garnett who could never do anything when it came to the playoffs?
Then the Celtics buy a team and all of a sudden he’s the cockiest SOB in the league. It’s getting old.

The last two years...
I’ve hated every time I saw a Boston game on ESPN or TNT and the camera constantly cut to Garnett, especially when he was injured, and all you see him yelling was “MF”
I do the same thing when I go to the grocery store....
drop the MF bomb left and right.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
I think the Bobcats are 0-73 from three point land tonight.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
And watching Ray Ray run the offense....
is painful.

I'm okay with how he's running the offense
I’m not thrilled with the 2-7 shooting.

I was mostly talking about his dribbling into three or four defenders
and still trying to get a shot up. I think that may have had an effect on his shoting
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
I think that’s more good defense. The Celtics are exceptionally good at positioning and getting the refs to allow a rough game. Unless you beat them with their own methods, it’s kind of a magic trick to beat that kind of interior D.

Magic tricks like shooting the ball well?
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Unless you’re a great three point shooting team, getting to the rim is the best shot. Closer to the rim, better shot.

Wallace
Maybe’s he injured then, and we just don’t know about it? lol, this is just ridiculous.
Flip is currently 1-7 FG and 0-2 3pt. Yeah.
Glad he's geting big minutes.
Over Gerald Henderson, Derrick Brown…or WALLACE.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
My is Flip getting so many minutes?
The most hustle I’ve seen all night on the defensive end was from Gerald Henderson

by James The Aussie on Dec 1, 2009 8:11 PM EST reply actions
Right now, I’m incensed at Larry Brown. If Wallace isn’t injured, and he didn’t look it when he went off the floor, there’s no reason he shouldn’t have been in the game for all this time. Diaw’s out there with 2 fouls. But no matter. He can stay and battle with Perkins and Garnett, I guess.
Every once in awhile...
I wonder if LB hasn’t lost it.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
Well, it looks like we know what happens when we have Jackson on the floor but no Wallace.
We’re worse than I ever imagined.

2 positives
only -3 rebounding and only 6 TO
of course the shooting is abysmal to say the least
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
If Gerald Wallace plays the entire 2nd half...
And ends up with only 3 or 4 fouls, I will be pretty upset.
He can max out at 29:31 playing time, but with necessary rest, will probably only hit 24 minutes. Completely unacceptable mind-bogglingly horrible lineup management.
by David A. Arnott on Dec 1, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions
For the Love of Mary & Joseph
The Celtics really came to play tonight. Glad Henderson was inserted into the game. The 2nd half will really show how much heart the Cats have. I really hoped they don’t let the Celtics sodomize them again.
"Late to bed and late to wake keeps you long on money and short on mistakes".
Those of you watching on TV, look for the Celtics waving towels at opposing shooters in front of their bench. It’s amazing.
Yup
The Celtics are the dirtiest team in the NBA, and the dirtiest I’ve seen since those 1980’s Pistons teams.
Of course if you ever mention in you’re labeled as ‘jealous’ or ‘a hater’.

I agree...
Almost every screen, they move. Every cutter gets bumped, their jersey grabbed, their arms grabbed, or they stick their leg out. Hand checking and buping the shooter’s arm when a shot goes up. The list goes on.
I cringe every time their most prominent fan (Simmons) talks about the “thuggish Knicks-Heat series” from the 1990s. Um… Look at this team. It’s only a matter of time until another team or two embraces it fully, too.

Gerald Wallace's third quarter: 12 minutes, 0 fouls
Which shows he should have been in the game in the second quarter. I mean seriously, what was LB thinking? Wallace is a smart veteran player and even if he did get his third foul in the second quarter, then you could bench him until the half. I just don’t understand, I guess. I think Yahoo!‘s Ball Don’t Lie had something back in the day about the ridiculous notion of benching players to keep them from fouling out.
I saw a weird Japanese movie called that one time.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
yea and lb should start Nazr, bench felton, let henderson and brown actually play, never let stephen graham see the court ever, and recall freedom fries from the d-league
BUT HE WON’T
which is sad
Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
I dunno about benching Felton...
but I agree with everything else
Felton's stat line tonight:
14 points 3 rebounds 5 assists 2 steals 1 TO 46% FG 100% FT in 31 minutes
what is it you didn’t like tonight?
i liked tonight but he'll follow it up with 3-19 fg with 5 TO

I like how in the 2nd quarter Tyson Chandler got a ‘delay of game’ foul for being in the game without having his jersey tucked in.
Meanwhile Paul Pierce has been playing the last 3 mins with it untucked front and back.
Funny how that happens.

Whats so great about OAk HILL ACADEMY??
seems like lots of NBA players played there..
It’s a basketball factory boarding school. High schoolers go there to concentrate exclusively on hoops and qualifying academically for NCAA.

It's only about an hour from my house in Mouth of Wilson, VA
A friend of mine works right next to the place and i’ve gone to watch some great talent for years. While I was at App St., Oak Hil played in a Christmas tourney in Boone for several years too.
