Gerald Henderson

Blazer fan here. I was suprised that your #1 pick did not see any PT the other night against the Blazers. Upon researching, it is apparent that he has not seen much playing time at all! This surprises me, as he is a fairly high pick with a solid, if not flashy, college resume. Couple that with the Cats struggles to score points this year, I would have thought he'd be getting more run. What am  missing?

Seeing other rookies getting chance to shine all over the league...

makes Henderson’s lack of playing time that much more painful.

agreed

Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER

Sorry, but who selected "GH is not the player Cats thought he was when drafted" ?

I know it’s one vote… but really?

He played well in the summer games he did have, and he’s only been on court 74 minutes…. TOTAL all season.

Actually, if you look at his per 36 numbers he’s doing pretty well for a rookie:
10.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg

Let me expand with some per 36 comparisons of the rookie shooting guards.

-
Gerald Henderson: 10.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg

James Harden: 12.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg
Stephen Curry: 11.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg
DeMar Derozan: 12 ppg, 6.1 rpg
Wayne Ellington: 10.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg

- Pretty much dead in line with all rookies.
-———————————————————————————

In case people were wondering here are the rookie PFs and how they stack up:
-
Derrick Brown: 12.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg

Tyler Hansbrough: 18.7 ppg, 10.8 rpg
Dejuan Blair: 13.6 ppg, 12.8 rpg
Jordan Hill: 25.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg
Demarre Carroll: 8.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg
Austin Daye: 11.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg

- Definately not too shabby by Brown given his draft position compared to the others (Blair excluded of course)

Then again...

Brown wasn’t considered to be a very high-upside player.

Curry isn't a 2......

If you live in the Carolinas or saw Steph play at Davidson then you know he's a 2.

Regardless of where the Dubs try and play him.

Over there he had no other scoring threat

He was the guy but here we can actually score. He leads all rookies in assists and if you have ever watched him here he is turning into a great passer.Regardless of what Davidson forced him to do.

Actually he's not

Brandon Jennings is leading all rookies in assists.

Look at the per minute played and you will see Curry is the best passer out of the two

I’m not saying he is better overall l but his a better passer. Jennings is playing about 35 mins a game while Curry is only playing 29 mins a game and is only trailing him by .3 also look at the turnovers where Jennings is averaging above 3 a game Curry is averaging 2 . Having seen them both play I say Curry easily is the better passer and has more court vision. Jennings on the other hand has good court vision but is more of a scorer. He reminds me a lot of Iverson when he was young.

It helps that Curry had 8 assists last game and Jennings had 2… it skewed their apg. Before that Jennings was averaging 1 apg more.

Curry is a good player, but it’s easy to look good when you run the point for a team that has Monta Ellis and Corey Magette averaging over 15 ppg. Meanwhile, Jennings has been without Michael Redd all but the last 2 games and only has only had Andrew Bogut scoring 16 ppg.

Jennings’ assists are going to be naturally lower because he’s the primary scorer and playmaker on that team. I don’t think he should be labeled ‘a worse passer’ because he’s a more effective scorer.

It also hurts Curry cause he played less than 5 minutes against New York

Also Maggs does not help assists. He mainly gets his points off free throws or iso drives. Every now and then he will get a catch and shoot jumper but he may get 1 or 2 of those a game at most. Jennings is no doubt better but if you watch them both Curry is a better pure passer. When we played him when he went for 55 he missed a lot of open teammates. And I mean WIDE OPEN. Stats can’t tell you floor vision, Bball IQ, and pure passing skills.

"Stats can’t tell you floor vision, Bball IQ, and pure passing skills."

Tell Steve Nash and his 11.6 apg that.

I understand what you’re saying, but:
- Bball IQ and pure passing skills are tracked by a quantifiable stat: Assists

- Floor vision is tracked by a quantifiable stat: Assist to turnover ratio

I love that the Gerald Henderson thread got jacked....

to talk about Steph Curry, just like when they were in college.

He's making me hate him....

especially since Terrance Williams got 33 minutes tonight for the Nets. Granted the Nets are terrible, but so are the Cats.

You remember we could have had CDR (who's currently blowing up)...

instead of Kyle Weaver a second-round pick.

I remember that shit...

I was so pissed when we passed up on him…I knew he was gonna blow up one day…seriously we should just give up drafting…we are so horrible at drafting
